We’re All About Changing the Story

By Bev Weise, Co-founder & Executive Director

Stories we tell ourselves shape our mindsets and perceptions of reality.

Refugee stories are often filled with loss, grief and trauma. For many, their difficult journeys to safety cause them to be trapped in a bad story-- a story of fear, sadness, hopelessness, and lack of agency. Broken stories that no longer serve them. Stories that create mindsets that can hold them back and trap them in an endless cycle of fear and doubt—about themselves and others.

Through compassion, curiosity, understanding, and deep listening, our coaches help transform these limiting beliefs to empowering ones. We’re helping them create new stories that acknowledge their strengths and capabilities. Stories in which they recognize their qualities of perseverance, determination and resilience—essential ingredients for a successful life. Their new empowering stories instill a belief of hope that a better future is within their grasp.

The process of changing the story they tell themselves is a process of change, self-discovery, and building their self-confidence. Through this transformative journey, they not only rewrite their stories, but also unlock their potential, opening doors to a future filled with hope, possibility, and purpose.
